Julissa Rodriguez is a 22-year old fine artist who was born and raised in New York.
Julissa has always expressed a love for art since a young age. She has had the privilege of studying in Fiorello H. Laguardia H.S, Cooper Union, and Temple University.
When it comes to art, Julissa does not limit herself. She goes out of her way to learn and master new techniques and mediums so she can incorporate them into her work. Her love for art was born out of the desire to cope with stressful situations, especially when her parents divorced while she was still a child. She has always seen art as her escape. In her eyes, drawing is a form of meditation. Her mind goes blank when she is creating. Her goal is to inspire people and create beautiful things through her artwork. Julissa curated her monthly shows called "The Melting Pot" at El Fogon Center for the Arts in the Bronx for 2 and a half years. An event that began as a show for her friends soon evolved into a movement, a movement to keep art alive in the Bronx. After being interviewed by 2 newspapers and having her event covered by Bronx 360 magazine and appearing on Bronx channel 12 news, "The Melting Pot" became a haven to artists.
Soon after Julissa discovered a love for painting on skin and creating alterations with special effects make-up.
